Description How To Tell If A Wall Is Load Bearing
There are many things you’ll need to know before you start to demolition a load-bearing wall – so before you start, make sure you’re well informed. The Coach walks you through how the process gets underway.
Removing load bearing walls or partitions is quite different from removing interior non load bearing walls. While the difference should be obvious, let’s outline it right here: load bearing walls are structural elements, non load bearing walls are not.
**Careful! The above should not be construed in any way as an encouragement to remove load bearing walls without replacing them with some equal or greater structural element.

Too much talking
this dude called jack studs cripple studs oh boy !!and screws never use screws they break nails bend!!!and that wasnt load baring no need for a shorewall bud i dont think your licensed bud.
man that is not a bearing wall you labeled your video how to remove a bearing wall in that is not a bearing wall nor is it a sheer wall it's just a standard partition wall do not need to put a PSL beam. standard header would suffice. you keep saying Engineers letter it's a structual observation report. and it doesn't take an engineer to know what a bearing wall is just a licensed general contractor. you didn't even need to build those Shoring walls was a waste of time. man you making things a lot harder than they need to be not sure you should be teaching people this stuff bro. If you wanted to do a temporary support on either side of the wall is all you need is a top plate a bottom plate about three two by fours and you're good just to hold up the ceiling joist don't need to build a huge Shoring wall cock it out of square cuz you weren't thinking about it before you build it. Are you a licensed contractor bro ? I'm not trying to be one of those guys it's just hearing you talk you don't sound too confident and almost like you're just winging it . are you asked a bunch of questions and then decided to shoot this video not sure but I do applaud the effort but it is frustrating to watch videos and them not be correct but not that you can't learn something from it. but typically u install a couple top plates on each side of the wall put a bottom plate without nailing it use the two by fours and pressure fit them in place too shore up the existing ceilings on each side of the wall then you remove drywall on one side only cut out the two-by-fours you need to cut out leave your king studs in the wall then ad your trimmers set your new header then cut out the existing dry wall on the other side along your new opening and then cut out the bottom plate drywall the side that you remove the drywall from. install your jams and casings and you are good to go or doors depending on what you're doing. but you seem like a nice guy and smart.
Very professional.
lol hes NOT one for words…..
wow hes no tone for words! lol
fuckin a man. you a beast. thanks for the info
Not for nothing, but a 24 o.c. wall with no cripplers and no load transfer beneath, and placed below engendered rafters, is a partition wall serving no purpose other than holding up drywall and paint place directly on the wall. That is, the rafters can not be supported by a wall that is not supported by a foundation, nor could the rafters be supported by a 24 o.c. wall.
What brand are your tools.
did the previous builders run out of 2x4s or what? some peoples kids, great video again i enjoy them. the way it was put together looks like you could take it down by hand
How would you do this at a marriage wall of a modular home? I have a cape cod home that I am looking at opening a 9ft area between my kitchen and living room and would like to install a flush lvl.
This is 1974 to 1975 was built cuz light on corner
By far the best video I've seen on the topic. Thank you!

Easyh eh – cheer
What is the Size and Measurements of the beam ?
most of that metal framing i has seen done is weak and not as good as timber, just an observation
