Description How To Tell If A Fuse Is Blown

This vehicle was referred to me by the farrier that takes care of my horses. The owner stated that after starting, the car would idle erratically, then die. I never was able to duplicate that symptom, but found the Oxygen sensor heater fuse blown, and codes P0443 (evap system malfunction), P0135, P0141, P0155, and P0161 (all 4 O2 sensor heater circuits) were stored and the check engine light was on and would return immediately after clearing the codes. This is a good example of the weird, “out there” kind of car problems I see in my little workshop. Often times a car owner will have already spent a ton of money at a commercial shop, and still not have the problem fixed. By the time they get to me they are pretty stressed out! In all fairness, weird electrical issues like this one are the bane of any professional mechanics existence as they always take a lot of time to diagnose and fix completely. Unfortunately, many of today’s mechanics are not experienced in fixing these kinds of issues, and frankly try to avoid getting them into their shops because due to the time involved, they always lose money. But lucky for my friends they have me to call on to save the day! I was a professional mechanic for many years, and was trained “Old School” So I know how to fix the weird stuff that sends all today’s young “Part’s Changer’s” running for cover! I do these videos primarily for the benefit of the vehicle owner so they can see what was done to fix their vehicle without getting dirty. But I have also developed quite a following around the world of people who like to watch these videos and enjoy seeing a nice Trang chủ brew workshop like ours tackle a difficult problem and solve it like a Boss! Enjoy!

    You are a life saver!! I searched far and wide for how to fix the same codes being thrown up. All I got was change the 02 sensors and purge valve. Watched your video and sure enough found the bad fuse, put in a new one, it blew right away. Traced the wiring sure enough bad wiring. Fixed that and boom! Problem fixed. Taking back those sensors and saving time and money!! Thank you!!!!

    Your video gave me a great starting point to find my issue on my 2001 Escape V6. Sure enough, the alternator had been replaced before I bought the car, and the mechanic misrouted the Bank 1, Sensor 2 wiring under the alternator bracket, crushing it between the bracket and the block. Both the heater and the sensor wires were grounded, causing heater and sensor codes. Had to remove the alternator completely after disconnecting the wiring, to get the O2 wiring up far enough to repair. Had I not viewed your video, I may not have found the issue as quickly as I did. Thank you for the video.

    i have just scanned my ford explorer 2002 and i got codes;
    P0102 (mass or volume airflow A circuit low),
    P1504 (manufacturer control),
    P0132(02 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 1).
    P0117(engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit low),
    P0708(transmission range sensor A circuit high),
    P0452(evaporative emission system pressure sensor switch low),
    P0155(20 sensor heater circuit bank 2 sensor 1),
    P0123( throttle/ pedal position sensor switch A circuit high),
    P0118( engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit high),
    P0112(intake air temperature sensor 1 circuit low)
    P0102 ( mass or volume airflow A circuit low)

    Please can someone tell me what i really need to fix or replace..

    Great video! I believe I have a clog in one of my catalytic converters. I have been looking for a good video to show me the underside of a 2002 Ford Escape so that I don't have to jack it up needlessly. Very good job with the camera work! I learned a lot!

    I am having the same issue. All 4 sensor codes plus the evap control. Instead of chasing wires down would it be easier just to unplug each sensor one at a time ? Then you can use a meter on the orange blue wire to check for short to ground or put in a new fuse and turn on car until it stops blowing the fuse?

    I read that too about a cat only meowing for people-but not true I have cats-and if a strange cat shows up many times it will meow to it and share the food bowl-unfortunately they do they same thing with skunks and they move in.
