My name is Diane Shreve, and I am the founder and maintainer of Ryan Stiles Net.  I am a nineteen-year-old young woman who is currently residing in Tempe, Arizona.  I am a sophomore at Arizona State University as a Graphic Information Technologies (previously Design Studies, and prior to that Graphic Design) major.  I moved down here as of July 2007 from the nothing state of Utah (and am so glad to be out of there!). I came to Utah at the tender age of five with my parents from California (where I was born) and had lived there ever since.  But now I am starting a whole new life of my own, as I am venturing out into the big wide world by myself, and am gladly embracing the freedom.

As far as my lifestyle and personality goes, I cannot be labeled with typical stereotypes.  The closest I probably come to is either 'geek' or 'nerd', but I prefer to consider myself as an original individual.  I am not swayed by fashion trends, fads, or 'what's hot and popular' in the least.  I am my own person and will do what I do, no matter what anyone else says.  I don't care about how others see me or what they think of me.  I am a one-woman island, isolated and most often alone, yet I can still stand the test of time.

When asked what I am like, I am usually described as intelligent, witty, sarcastic, original, creative, obsessive, amusing, honest, passionate, and loyal.  Though, on a more negative note, I am very reclusive, and I keep to myself most of the time.  I can be very depressed, as I have a lot of very bad health issues.  I can be a bit snippety and intimidating to those who do not know me or around those I do not feel comfortable with.  However, once you actually get to know me, I can be one of the sweetest, best friends you'll ever have.  I am fiercely loyal and protective of those I care about.  I take secrets to the grave, and I never, ever judge.

I always stand up for what I believe is right.  I believe strongly in my dreams and am passionate about the things I love.  I will defend those who I care about and am always there for a friend, whether I am near or far.  I am always willing to listen, and I will readily give advice and always help out the best that I can in any sort of situation.

For hobbies, web design and creation is obviously my main pasttime.  A few other things I highly enjoy include archery, bowling, writing, drawing, gaming, and, naturally, anything and everything to do with either Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, or Eric Idle.  I am an avid writer and plan on to one day publish a novel.  I write fantasy, fan-fiction, fiction, drama, romance, and action-adventure - basically anything but horror and non-fiction.  I also blog, role-play, and fashion poetry.  I've been bowling for roughly seven years now and am fairly good.  I've been on a few leagues before, and the last league I was on, I was captain of my team and we took first place.  Drawing has been something I've enjoyed since I was a child, and I've taken numerous art classes since.  I'm not the best artist, but I have won first place ribbons for pieces before, as well as have had a couple of items placed in a public gallery on display.  I've also done archery for a long time, though I hadn't gotten serious about it until a little over five years ago.  I shoot a regular recurve bow - real archery - with no sights or mechanical / compound BS.  I am much more of an 'old-school' gamer and love the oldies like Pong and Ms. Pacman.  Other gaming includes my Playstation 2 (Kingdom Hearts and Spyro are my favorites), my Nintendo 64, my Sega Genesis, and my original Nintendo, as well as multiple Game Boys and computer games (got to love the Sims 2!).  While I like to play games, I do not play very often as I'm not the best gamer and either grow bored or get frustrated.  There's also the lack of free time nowadays.

My taste in music is rather odd.  I love to listen to music, and am pretty versatile concerning my tunes.  I stay as far away as possible from rap, though, as well as songs that are nothing but people screaming into microphones.  I adore rock of almost any sort, oldies (especially the Beatles), pop, and some comedy (Eric Idle & Greg Proops).  However, I also like to listen to country, soundtracks, Broadway hits, Irish & Celtic music, and dance.  I also love movies, but I don't watch TV or see movies very often at all.  When I do, I prefer to stick to comedies, fantasy/science fiction, and action-adventure only and, if it looks any good, animations.  On ocassion I will see a romance, though, and once in a blue moon, a drama.  I refuse to see horror and just plain 'stupid' movies.

A few other random facts about me...  Well, I love animals.  I am a member of the Save The Manatees Club, and am for animal rights.  Back in Utah, I had cats, guinea pigs, horses, goats, chickens, fish, hamsters, and more, but I only took two of my cats and my guinea pigs with me in the move (though I have acquired another two cats since, bringing my current kitty number to four). I have crooked pinkies.  My favorite types of food are Italian cuisine and ribeye steaks, and my favorite restaurant is Chili's.  I prefer salty things over sweet things.  I've traveled to Europe.  I'm still a sucker for Disney films.  I was a straight A 4.0 student in my high school, and graduated ranked #1.  I like to collect things.  Blue is my favorite color.  I like to dress up and attend events like Renaissnace Festivals and SCA wars.  I love guitars and have two but can barely even play them.  And I'm horrid at writing autobiographies, or any sort of biography for that matter.

Thus, really, that's me in a nutshell.  Thanks for reading!  If you're interested in knowing more about me and my oh-so-thrilling life, please check out my personal site, Passionate Dreams.  You can also check me out on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and Livejournal.

Back in November of 2006, after recently reacquainting myself with the wonderful hilarity and mass of talent that is Ryan Stiles, I decided to dip into my pool of creativity and create yet another actor-based website.  Thus, Ryan Stiles Net was born.  Using the web-building skills that I've gained over the last eight years, I began working hard on a new site, pouring many hours into collecting data, pictures, information, and more in order to have a good basis for the start of Ryan Stiles Net.

Now with over two years tucked into our belts, RSN has solidified itself as an extremely popular web spot for Ryan fans across the globe.  With visitors hailing from the USA, Canada, England, Finland, Australia, New Zealond, Sweden, Ireland, and more, the site currently roughly receives well over one hundred visitors per day.  Sincere thanks goes out to everyone for all of your support!

However, why, exactly, did I create a Ryan-based website?  Well, for over six years now I have run an enormous website called Idleized Heaven, which is based on the actor Eric Idle.  Idleized Heaven, or IH as it is sometimes referred to as, was an extremely popular site and truly introduced me to real web designing and maintaining, as well as what people like and don't like in a fansite.  Although Idleized Heaven is now dormant, I still love IH with all of my heart, and have had a lot of fun with it through the years.  Nevertheless, when my interest for Ryan was rekindled, I thought it only appropriate to create a fansite for Ryan Stiles as well.

The main goal of RSN is to promote all things Ryan Stiles.  This basically means that we intend to not only introduce and induct new people into the fanbase, but to expand the knowledge and fanism of current fans as well.  We hope to become the primary source for all things Ryan, including news, information, pictures, and entertainment alike.

If you'd like to learn a bit more about the site and its brief history, please visit the Site History page.
Ever since late 1998 when flipping through the channels on my satellite and stumbling across an episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, I have been a fan of Ryan Stiles.  I immediately took to the tall guy, what with his lanky, lean figure, big feet with amusing shoes, cute big nose and ears, and eyes that could portray a million expressions.  Whose Line immediately became my best friend, my closest companion for laughter and amusement - especially including that of a certain Mr. Ryan Lee Stiles.

For years, I was an avid watcher of Whose Line.  I would turn on the telly every night and laugh my ass off all throughout dinner, pointing and giggling like mad, especially at games such as Props, Let's Make A Date, Scenes From A Hat, Sound Effects, and Party Quirks.  It didn't take long for me to know all of the players by name, and to learn their little quirks and witty personalities.  Whose Line truly was something that I cherished, even though I didn't always get all of the jokes (because I was a lot younger then with a still extremely innocent mind, heh).

However, then we shut off our satellite.  I slowly began to forget all about Whose Line, and turned to other interests and obsessions.

It wasn't until August of 2006 that a then good friend of mine by the name of Andrea showed me a bunch of Whose Line clips off of YouTube.  It was like being hit with a rocket - instantaneous, and explosive.  Suddenly I remembered about Whose Line, the cast, and how much I adored it.  My fanism was back - and it was back with a vengence!

It was literally weeks later when I had purchased tickets to see Colin and Brad live.  That was one of the best nights of my life, and full of absolute hilarity.  Then just a few months later, I found myself with tickets to see Drew Carey, Greg Proops, Kathy Kinney, Chip Esten, Jeff Davis, Sean Mastersen, Julie Larson, Johnathan Magnum, and the master of comedy himself, Ryan Stiles, for shows two nights in a row.  The shows were brilliant in every aspect and manner, and I about died from laughing so much, so hard.  The best part by far, though, was getting to see everyone after the show and get pictures and autographs.  Ryan in particular was very sweet and kind, warm and friendly.  He made it a truly memorable experience.

Since that occassion, I have had the chance to meet Ryan (and the others, especially Greg) numerous times.  I now consider myself as an acquaintance of Mr. Stiles.  I have had the pleasure of spending a day with Mr. Stiles as a part of Outlaw Radio.  I have seen him perform improv many times with both Improv All-Stars and Whose Live Anyway?.  I've chatted with him over the phone a few times as well, again via Outlaw Radio.  He is always very cordial, kind, and sincere, and I appreciate the times he takes to say hello.  I love Ryan dearly, and am honored to have met him so many times.

Aside from his kindness and very down-to-Earth nature, Ryan is one of the funniest people alive.  He is a comedic genius and never fails to make me laugh.  He is a man of a thousand faces and expressions, and his quick wit in improv is nothing short but mind-blowing.  He's a versatile actor who has a great personality to boot.  He's very 'real', and cares about his family, and cares for others as well as he has done a lot of charity work before.  He's a handsome fellow who is very warm and welcoming.  And this is why I dedicate this website to him - because he's just an overall wonderful person who continues to both inspire and amuse me.  His talent is truly something worth commemorating.
